Concession cards

The Muvo Card is your convenient way to travel and explore the city. Because each passenger has different needs, Muvo has created various concession cards that provide economical solutions in order to make the bus transport service accessible to all. These concession cards offer discounted fares on bus trips. Muvo concession cards are granted to passengers who meet the specific concession criteria. To find out if you qualify for a Muvo concession card, please read the criteria below.

Scholars

Criteria: Scholars between Grades 1 and 12 qualify for Scholar Concession fares on Municipal Bus Services.

Application process: Please take your original ID document or Birth Certificate to a Muvo PayPoint, where you will complete an application form and then be issued with your Scholar Concession Card, provided you load 10 trips. Photocopies of ID documents or Birth Certificates will not be accepted.

Using the concession card: You must be dressed in full school uniform when using your Scholar Concession Card.

 

Senior Citizens

Criteria:  All South African senior citizens aged 60 years or older qualify for Pensioner Concession fares on Municipal Bus services.

Application process: To apply for a Muvo Concession Card please note that you will first need to apply for a Municipal Concession ID card. A fee of R50 is payable.

To apply for a Municipal Concession Card please visit the Durban Transport Bus Depot, 102 Johannes Nkosi Street (Alice St) every Tuesday from 09:00 to 15:00.

 

Municipal Concession Card Application Process

Please take your original ID document or driver’s licence to a depot, where our staff will assist you in completing a Concession Application Form.  Photocopies of ID documents and driver’s license will not be accepted.  

The application process is as follows:

  • 1. Original ID required. Not copies.
  • 2. Complete a concession application form.
  • 3. Photo taken of commuter.
  • 4. Commuter will be contacted to collect card from a Muvo PayPoint of their choice and pay the R50 card fee.
  • 5. Commuter to provide proof of payment and original ID when collecting the Municipal concession card.

Using the concession card

Commuter to produce Municipal Concession ID card to:

  • a) Cashier when Muvo Smartcard is being issued.
  • b) Cashier when Muvo Smartcard is being topped up.
  • c) Driver when boarding bus.
  • d) Bus inspector on request.

Persons with disabilities

Criteria: Persons with a disability in receipt of a SASSA grant may apply for a Municipal Concession ID Card.

Application process: The application process will commence from 1 August 2013.  To apply for a Muvo Concession card please note that you will first need to apply for a Municipal Concession ID card.  A fee of R50 is payable.

To apply for a Municipal Concession Card please visit the Durban Transport Bus Depot, 102 Johannes Nkosi Street (Alice St) every Tuesday from 09:00am to 3:00pm

 

Municipal Concession Card Application Process

The application process is as follows:

  • 1. Original ID required. Not copies.
  • 2. Complete a concession application form.
  • 3. Photo taken of commuter.
  • 4. Commuter details are submitted to SASSA for grant confirmation and period of disability.
  • 5. On SASSA approval, Municipal Concession ID card is issued.
  • 6. Commuter will be contacted to collect card from a Muvo PayPoint of their choice and pay the R50 card fee.
  • 7. Commuter to provide proof of payment and original ID when collecting the Municipal concession card.

Using the concession card

Commuter to produce Municipal Concession ID card to:

Concession Fare Terms and Conditions

  • 1) The concession card is strictly for the use of the individual to whom it has been issued.  Unauthorised use is prohibited
  • 2) Any concession card holder who gives his or her card to another person will have his or her concession card withdrawn.
  • 3) The concession will only be granted in line with the approved policy.  Any previously issued concessions will not be automatically renewed.
